I am interested in environmental influences on reef corals, particularly the effects of swell on coral breakage and growth form. Currently, I am working on a project aiming to quantify the damage caused to coral colonies by waterborne debris during hydrodynamic disturbances such as tropical storms. This research is centred on Lizard Island due to the Category 4 Tropical Cyclone Ita that recently hit the area in 2014.
